Easy Watercolor Background – Art Journal Tutorial

Today I’m sharing a super easy and also fun way to create an art journal background with watercolors and gesso. Every background you make will turn out different and will give you a good start for your pages. I am building the page using also some gold texture paste with a stencil and different stamped images.

I have two pages to share today, that I’ve made for my handmade journal that I made a few weeks ago. For the background I’ve used Distress Inks and stamps from my Happy Place stamp set for the focal images.

Mixed Media Greeting Cards

Today I just want to share some greeting cards with the new Inky Friends butteflies from Rubber Dance.

For the first card I used a watercolor background with a stenciled image. For the second I used a gelli print from my stash. The butterflies are stamped with neon pink acrylic paint and colored in with gouache paints.

Welcome to a new mixed media tutorial. I’m playing in one of my handmade art journals today using mainly acrylic paints. I create kind of a messy background. It’s really intuitive and easy. My main image is one of my new wildflower stamps. I used it together with the Mixed Media Marks stamp set.

Today I am sharing another page in my new handmade journal. I shared the making of the journal last sunday. I created the background with Distress Inks and used some Mushrooms as the focal point. I really like this littel forest scene.

Intuitive Art Journaling with Stabilo Woodys

I played in my Dina Wakley Media Journal using the Stabilo Woodys. I did this totally intuitive and had a lot of fun. If you don’t have the Woodys, you can also use any other water-soluble crayon (e.g.: Gelatos, Distress Crayons, Neocolor II …) My main images on the page are the rainbow and the flower from my Flowers Gone Wild stamp set.

I’m sharing a artist trading card tutorial today using a lot of dimension on the background. I used embellishments to create a lot of texture and acrylic paints and inks to add color. My focal images are my brand new Bumbe & Bee stamps.

Today I show you how easy it is to make a mini album cover (or art journal cover) in a Traveler’s Notebook Style using a 12 x 12 designer paper. I will also create an art journal page in this journal using Distress Oxide Sprays for the background.
