Sketchbook Catch-Up

I everybody! I plan to start blogging again more regularly, not only the art journaling videos I post over on YouTube. I also want to catch up and keep up with the creations I make for the Rubber Dance Shop blog and with my sketchbook pages. I am posting regularly over on my two Instagram pages – but not on my blog! That’s a shame! And I think it has to change. So today I’d like to show you some of the mixed media sketchbook pages I made whilst we were on holidays last year in August in Croatia!
For the future I plan to just post my sketchbook pages alongside my Instagram postings. So there will be not so many images at once, but more regularly of course!

I mainly worked in my favourite sketchbook, from Royal Talens – but I discovered also a new series of jounals I really love. The graduate sketchbooks from Canson! As always I worked with a lot of different materials! My favourites were watercolors, Daniel Smith watercolor sticks, Neocolors, colored pencils, markers (acrylic and watercolor) but I also enjoyed the different kind of XL Blocks from Derwent.

What I really loved about sketching, drawing and painting on location is, that it not only captures a certain scene, it also captures the energy of the locations. That is just not possible if you just draw from photos. But of course, traveling is expensive and even more time consuming, especially if you have kids. So photos are a good alternative. I think if you’ve already been to a place it makes it easier to capture the scene from photo later.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

xx Susanne
