Working in my Watercolor Play Journal – Free Process Video

Hi everybody! I’m sharing another new fun watercolor session in my sketchbook today. It’s all about the importance of play and how to learn more about your watercolors or other materials, that you love to use.

Before we start I’d like to tell you some exciting news! I am a teacher in the popular Wanderlust workshop next year! It’s the Wanderlust 2027 – Seasons Edition! Amongst 40 amazing artist I am able to share a lesson and I am super proud to be part of that! I’d be happy to see you in class next year! All information is available on the Wanderlust website!

Playing with watercolors is one of the most relaxing things you can do. And great is, that it’s not very messy. I love watching the pigments move around, bleeding and feathering in the water. Its always a little surprise to see how the paint does its own thing. In today’s workshop I am using my go to watercolors and a limited color palette.

A close-up view of a watercolor art piece featuring vibrant circular shapes in pink, orange, and black, with splatters and dots, placed on an artist's workspace with various pens and a watercolor palette in the background.
A vibrant watercolor painting featuring concentric circles in shades of pink, yellow, and blue, displayed in an art sketchbook surrounded by various art supplies like markers and a palette.

I used watercolors from Mijello (Opera Rose, Cobalt Black) and a granulating teal (no idea what brand and color), a Cretacolor Art Chunky Stick, A yellow Viarco Art Graf crayon. To add details I am using some Arrtx acrylic markers. I really liked that dusky blue on top. I also used an acrlylic fineliner in white from ENMY.

Many of the supplies I use, are available at Craftelier (de), Craftelier (uk), Craftelier (es). It’s one of my favourite shops for art materials as they have a big range, good prices and reasonable shipping costs (free on order over 60€).
I also have all my favourite Materials collected on my Amazon storefront. These are all affiliate links, you don’t pay more, but I get a small amount back. Thank you!
