Mixed Media in my Skechbook – Landscape in Watercolor – Full Video Tutorial

I’m sharing a process video today over on my german YouTube channel (no voice over) on how I draw/paint a landscape in mixed media in my sketchbook. I am working in a Royal Talens Art Creations book. It’s my favourite as the price is not expensive, the paper is smooth and takes a lot of mediums (including watercolors) very well. I also like that the paper is in a cream color.

Heute nochmal ein Video aus meinem Skizzenbuch. Ursprünglich habe ich das Video im Hochformat für Instagram gefilmt, daher ist es “nur” quadratisch. Ich mag das Buch mit Abstand am liebsten, da es nicht so teuer ist und das Papier schön glatt ist, aber trotzdem super mit Buntstiften funktioniert. Insgesamt hält das Papier sehr viele Medien aus, sogar Aquarellfarbe. Ich mag auch, dass es cremfarben ist.

I so enjoyed the cardboard surfaces recently, that I decided to make another mixed media spread on a bigger piece of cardboard. Cardboard is a great and cheap surface to play and experiment. I am using a handpainted paper, tissue paper, acrylics and Neocolors today.

Ich fand den Kartonuntergrund, den ich in der letzten Zeit öfter verwendet habe richtig toll und habe gleich nochmal ein Mixed Media Video damit gemacht. Heute gestalte ich ein etwas größeres Kunstwerk mit Collage, Acrylfarben und Neocolor Kreiden auf einem Stück Karton.

Using Oil-Pastels in my Sketchbook

Over the last few days I made some bird drawings with oil pastels in my Sketchbook. I have been loving oil pastels forever, but I always hesitated using them to create art because of their property not to dry. After drawing in mixed media every day for one year I discovered that the process is the thing I really love about making art. It became absolutely unimportant for me to create good work. Knowning and feeling that freed me up in a completely new way. That was, what made it so easy to play with the pastels even if they are messy, they do not dry and the pages stick together. You will find some tips in my post how I prevent them from smearing, a quick process clip and of course the drawings I made. I will also give you the links to the pastels I’ve used.

Über die letzten paar Tage habe ich einige Vogelzeichnungen mit Ölpastellkreiden in meinem Skizzenbuch angefertigt. Ich mochte diese Kreiden schon immer total gern, hab aber gezögert sie zu verwenden, da sie nicht trocknen! Nachdem ich nun ein Jahr wirklich jeden Tag in Mixed Media im Skizzenbuch gemalt und gezeichnet habe fiel mir auf, dass ich keinen Wert auf das fertige “Kunstwerk” lege, viel mehr hatte ich eine unheimliche Freude beim schaffen! Diese Erkenntnis hat mich unheimlich befreit und mir jegliche Angst genommen etwas “Falsches” zu malen. In meinem Post gebe ich dir noch ein paar Tips zum Arbeiten mit Ölpastellkreiden im Skizzenbuch, ein kleines How-To Video und natürlich zeige ich dir meine Zeichnungen.

Mixed Media ATCs on Cardboard with Collage Scraps – Video Tutorial

It’s time to use up some of my collage paper scraps! I have so many of them and today I am challenging myself to use only those to create three mixed media artist trading cards on a cardboard base. In addition to the paper scraps I am working with gesso, acrylic ink, Faber-Castell Gelatos and of course some of our stamps. It’s quite a long video, I hope you enjoy it!

Heute ist es Zeit endlich mal einige der kleinen Papierschnipsel loszuwerden, die sich über die letzten Monate hier angesammelt haben. Dazu gestalte ich drei ATCs mit einer Basis aus Karton. Außerdem verwende ich noch Gesso, Acryltinte, Gelatos und natürlich einige Stempel. Das Video in deutsch ist “live” aufgezeichnet. Ich hoffe es gefällt dir!

Feathruary 2023 Challenge – 28 Birds

Today I have a bunch of birds from my sketchbook to share. I played along in the #feathruary challenge where you draw a bird each day. I drew the birds in my sketchbook. If you go to instagram and search the hashtag #feathruary you will find tons of amazing ways to draw birds! It is similar to #birbfest, which I really enjoyed, just with different promts! You will also find everything about it over on instagram. I’m creating a spread today in my Dina Wakley Journal, playing on one of the kraft paper pages. I am inspired by some tags I made recently for my instagram reels. Mixed Media Collage in my Art Journal – Video Tutorial

I’m creating a spread today in my watercolor sketchbook from Kunst & Papier. I had a bunch of papers that were already tared up and one colorful left-over-paint-paper and wanted to use them. I am glueing the papers down intuitively combine them with white paint and add different mark makings on top with stamps and crayons.

Im heutigen Video gestalte ich eine Seite im Aquarellbuch von Kunst & Papier. Ich hatte so ein schönes buntes Papier parat, das wollte ich unbedingt verwenden.. Die Schnipsel klebe ich mit dem Tombow Klebestick ein. Ich verwende außerdem weiße Acrylfarbe, einige Stempel und mache Mark-Makings mit Neocolor Kreiden .
